Hey beautiful soul!
I’ve got something really personal to share with you today, and when I originally recorded the episode I did it a little differently—it was actually recorded while on the road. Yup, with a heart full of reflections as I made my way to BBD Live, a business conference hosted by James Wedmore. I’ve been a part of his Business by Design program since 2019, but I didn’t truly step into the full experience until last year. And let me tell you, it was a game-changer.
I want to dive into a big breakthrough I had while attending the event this year—something that hit me deeply and helped me realize just how crucial it is to face those uncomfortable moments head-on. It’s all part of the entrepreneurial journey, right? Overcoming the deep insecurities, the fear of failure, and the heart-wrenching disappointments that come with it. This is not just about business; it’s about showing up for yourself and doing it anyway, even when you’re scared.
The Struggle of Disappointment
Okay, so picture this: I had driven six hours to get to the event, woke up at 2:30 AM to start packing, and honestly felt like I was running on fumes. But I made it. I finally arrived at the hotel in my sweatpants, no bra, and honestly just a little frazzled. And that’s when it hit me.
As I checked in, I was excited to see familiar faces from last year—James, Mel Abraham, and Brandon Lucero—but I also felt this weight. I realized that while a lot had changed since last year, there were still things in my life—especially financially—that hadn’t improved in the way I had hoped. I’d pushed myself so hard this year, but still, certain goals didn’t manifest. And that disappointment? It sunk in.
That moment of realization hurt like a punch to the gut. But here’s the thing: when you’re on this path, disappointment is part of the process. It’s going to happen. The key is not letting it hold you down for too long.
Feeling the Disappointment, but Not Letting It Define You
It’s so easy to stay in that low, heavy feeling. But I realized something. We often get caught up in our disappointment and let it snowball into this all-consuming thing. And I get it. Trust me, I’ve been there. But we don’t have to let it define us or stop us from moving forward.
One thing that helped me in this moment was tapping into Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)—a method I use to clear out negative emotions. I had to sit with my feelings of disappointment, really feel them, and then let them pass through. I also realized that this wasn’t just about the disappointment of not hitting certain financial goals. It connected to deeper moments in my past—like when I was a child and struggled with self-doubt, feeling like I’d never amount to anything. That weight of disappointment had been building for years, layer by layer.
But the breakthrough? It came when I faced that feeling head-on. It was uncomfortable, yes, but in that discomfort, I found freedom. It wasn’t about bypassing the emotion, but truly feeling it and moving through it. That’s the work. Sometimes the fall can be hard, but it’s learning how to get back up that matters most.
Entrepreneurship Isn’t Just About Success; It’s About Resilience
Entrepreneurship is a constant dance of ups and downs. Sometimes you fall flat on your face. And that’s okay. What matters is how you rise. It’s like when I used to dance in college. They taught me how to roll with gravity when I’d fall, to use that momentum to get back up instead of crashing into the ground. It’s the same in business—learning to roll with the punches, to take the hits, and keep going.
Here’s the thing: failure isn’t the enemy. In fact, it’s an inevitable part of the process. We have to fail to learn what works. But it’s in those moments of failure, when we feel most defeated, that the real breakthroughs happen. You see, success is inevitable if we keep going. It’s not a matter of if, but when. You just need to learn how to fall, and then rise stronger each time.
The Power of Facing Your Feelings
For me, that tap on disappointment led me back to my childhood memories—memories of feeling like I wasn’t enough, of feeling like I couldn’t do it on my own. And that realization was powerful because it made me see that so much of the disappointment I was carrying wasn’t even about the present moment. It was about all the past moments where I believed I had failed or fallen short. But here’s the magic: when we face those deep-seated feelings, when we allow ourselves to process them, that’s when the true healing happens.
Now, this might be hard to hear, but this is the truth: the things that bring you down, the failures, the disappointments—they don’t have to keep you down. It’s all part of the alchemical process. We can use these experiences to build ourselves up, to gather those hidden gems of wisdom and strength. Yes, there will be more layers to uncover, more work to do. But each time, it gets a little easier to rise again.
Your Next Breakthrough Is On the Other Side of This
So, if you’re feeling disappointed, if you’re struggling with that heavy feeling, it’s okay. But don’t let it drag you down. It’s not the end of the story. It’s just a chapter. And there are tools—like tapping, journaling, or other practices—that can help you process these emotions, get to the root of them, and rise stronger than before.
If you’re looking for some guidance, I’m here to help. Maybe EFT isn’t for you, and that’s okay too. Whatever works for you, let’s figure it out together. Sometimes the breakthrough is closer than you think, and it may just take a little nudge, a bit of support, to get you there.
If this resonated with you today, reach out. Let’s connect. Your next breakthrough is waiting, and I’d love to help you step into it.
Take care, and thank you for reading. You are amazing, and I’m so grateful for you.
